In the media and in storybooks, farmers are often portrayed as middle-aged men wearing flannelette shirts and wide-brimmed hats, standing in drought-stricken farmland or sheering sheep.

Victorian farmers want to combat those stereotypes, saying farmers can be defined as young, female, LGBTQIA+, and people who work in agricultural roles that never step foot in a paddock.
