PETALING JAYA: National squash player Ng Eain Yow is looking forward to facing the world’s top squash players and see how many wins he can get against the top 10 players.

The world No. 7 will compete in the Sturbridge Capital Motor City Open, to be held in Bloomfield Hills from Jan 26-30.

Eain Yow, who turns 24 today, has a first-round bye, and will either face the United States’ Todd Harrity (world No. 35) or Spain’s Borja Galan (world No. 42) in the second round.

“It’s a strong event for sure, with most if not all the top guys playing. I’m looking forward to seeing how far I can go against them and get more wins against top 10 players,” he said.

“They’re both good players, especially Borja, who is very experienced on the tour. I’ve been training really hard the last few weeks, so I’ll be ready for either of them.”

If he gets past the second-round hurdle, Eain Yow could potentially face top seed and world No. 2 Paul Coll of New Zealand in the third round.

“I want to go in and play good squash in this event.

“If I get past my first match, I’ll probably play Paul Coll, who will be the top contender at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games later this year. It will be a great opportunity to gauge where I am.”
