The annual Bounty Farm Handicap squash tournament got underway on Monday evening at the Georgetown Club Courts with four matches.

Five matches were scheduled, but Robert Natiello didn’t have to take to the court as he won via walkover from Ryan Rahaman.

Ian Mekdeci (-2) managed to win 2-1 against Lloyd Fung-A-Fat (+7), while in an identical score line, Mohryan Baksh (-8) completed victory over Brian Young (+7).

Louis DaSilva (+1) didn’t make the most of his positive handicap as he went down to Gabrielle Fraser (-6) 2-1, and Tony Farnum (+9) swept Lee Fung-A-Fat (+8) in two sets.

Chairman of the Competitions Committee Deja Dias indicated that the Guyana Squash Association is happy with the number of entries and he is looking forward to an extremely competitive tournament. He believes as the competition goes deeper and the higher seeds get into action, it could be thrilling.

Matches continue throughout the week, with the final set for Sunday.
